QR Code Print Size Guide: How Big Should a QR Code Be?

Recommended QR code print sizes for business cards, posters, packaging, and table tents—plus testing tips so your codes always scan.

A beautiful QR that is too small—or printed with poor contrast—will fail in the real world. Use these size guidelines before you send anything to print.

Recommended minimum sizes

  • Business cards: about 2 cm × 2 cm (0.8 in) or larger
  • Flyers and handouts: 2.5–3 cm (1–1.2 in)
  • Posters viewed from a few feet away: 5 cm+ (2 in+)
  • Window or wall signage: scale up so scanners do not need to stand awkwardly close

Distance rule of thumb

A common rule is roughly 10:1—scanning distance to QR width. If people will scan from 1 meter away, aim closer to 10 cm wide. Always leave quiet space (margin) around the code.

Download the right file

Export a high-resolution PNG from Scan Craft QR for print. Test a proof on the final material—matte vs glossy paper and window glare change results.
